PC

The PC fits in the Development System because this is where a 6811 programmer will author and assemble/compile 6811 code. At the PC's keyboard is where the developer develops... sitting in front of the PC is where you will do most of your thinking/cursing about how you wish to make your Miniboard accomplish tasks. Once the code has been authored and assembled or compiled on the PC, the executable 6811 program may need to be downloaded to the Target System. The PC's serial port must be connected to the Miniboard's serial port with a serial cable, and a downloader program must be run on the PC to accomplish the file transfer of the 6811 executable into the Miniboard.

The PC may also be used to simulate the Miniboard and run through the 6811 executable under the control of a 6811 simulator program.

The PC may be a Mac, DOS/Windows, UNIX, or Amiga machine. The requirement is that it have a serial port and be able to run an assembler and/or compiler for the 6811 and run a downloader program. You will also need a text editor. Most word processors will save a file in ASCII format and will suffice.
